In 2022, a new and decisive phase of my professional journey began when I started my apprenticeship as an office management assistant at APZ Alphazahn.
APZ Alphazahn specialises in external billing services for the dental sector. The company supports dental practices, dental laboratories and other organisations with billing-related and organisational processes. This gave me the opportunity to train in a professional and highly specialised working environment.
My apprenticeship combined commercial knowledge with practical tasks from the company’s daily operations. I learned how to handle organisational and administrative processes in a structured manner, prepare information carefully and coordinate different responsibilities reliably.
My experience included working with digital communication and organisational tools, preparing documents, handling administrative requests and supporting internal processes.
I quickly realised that professional office management involves far more than simply managing documents. Many individual processes are connected. Information must be complete, tasks and appointments must be coordinated, and agreements must be followed reliably.
Careful work is therefore just as important as flexibility and the ability to maintain an overview when several tasks need attention at the same time.
Learning Through Practical Experience
During my apprenticeship, I was able to apply my theoretical knowledge directly in the workplace. With each new responsibility, I developed a stronger understanding of business processes and the requirements of a modern service company.
Becoming increasingly independent was particularly important to me. At the beginning, many activities were explained and supervised. As my apprenticeship progressed, I was able to take responsibility for more tasks on my own.
I learned how to prioritise assignments, develop practical solutions and ask the right questions whenever something was unclear.
The apprenticeship did not only improve my professional knowledge. It also helped me develop my personal working style. Structure, reliability and the careful handling of information became essential elements of my daily work.
At the same time, I learned that successful teamwork depends on clear communication and mutual trust. In a team with different responsibilities, information must be shared clearly, agreements must be respected and people must continue to treat one another professionally, even during demanding periods.
The positive working environment at APZ Alphazahn was especially valuable to me. A supportive team does more than make learning easier. It also creates the right conditions for recognising personal strengths and developing them further.
Successfully Completing My Apprenticeship
In 2025, I successfully completed my apprenticeship as an office management assistant. This qualification represented an important personal milestone.
It stood not only for the examinations I had passed and the professional knowledge I had gained. It was also the result of a longer journey during which I had experienced different educational and professional stages and overcome setbacks.
Completing the apprenticeship confirmed that determination and perseverance are worthwhile. Despite earlier difficulties, I had never completely abandoned my goal of earning a professional qualification in office management.
This made it even more meaningful to complete my apprenticeship successfully at APZ Alphazahn.
I was particularly pleased that my work with the company continued after the apprenticeship. I was immediately offered a permanent position and the opportunity to take on additional responsibility in a new role.
Becoming an Executive Assistant
After completing my apprenticeship, I moved directly into the position of executive assistant. This was an important recognition of my previous work and of the trust that had developed during my training.
As an executive assistant, I support the company’s management with organisational and administrative matters. This includes preparing information in a structured way, coordinating tasks, supporting internal processes and helping management handle its daily responsibilities efficiently.
The position requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion and responsibility. Many tasks need to be approached proactively. At the same time, it is essential to respond flexibly to new requirements and remain organised when plans change at short notice.
My structured and determined way of working helps me coordinate different responsibilities and contribute to smooth daily operations. The knowledge I gained during my apprenticeship provides an important foundation for this work.
In my current position, I can apply this knowledge while continuing to deepen and expand it.
My direct transition into a permanent role also showed me that an apprenticeship is more than an entry point into a profession. With commitment, a willingness to learn and mutual trust, it can become the foundation for long-term development within a company.
Taking Responsibility as a Training Coordinator
In addition to working as an executive assistant, I took on the role of training coordinator. This gave me the opportunity to support other apprentices shortly after completing my own training.
This responsibility is particularly meaningful to me. Since my own apprenticeship was completed only recently, I can understand the situation of young people who are just beginning their professional lives.
I am familiar with the questions, uncertainties and challenges that can arise during vocational training.
As a training coordinator, I help with structured onboarding and support apprentices during their daily work. This involves explaining tasks clearly, being available for questions and helping them develop a more independent way of working.
For me, good training is not limited to passing on technical knowledge. Apprentices should also feel confident enough to ask questions, accept responsibility and learn from mistakes.
At the same time, the role allows me to develop further as well. Explaining a process to someone else requires a deeper understanding of one’s own work.
I am learning how to communicate information clearly, respond to different learning styles and take responsibility for supporting another person’s professional development.
Professional Development and Certificates
Learning does not end when an apprenticeship is completed. Processes, technologies and professional expectations are constantly changing, especially in a modern working environment.
For this reason, continuing to develop my knowledge is an important part of my career.
Through various professional development courses, I have been able to gain additional knowledge and strengthen existing skills. My successful participation in these courses has been documented through certificates.
For me, these certificates represent more than formal proof of attendance. Continuing education gives me the opportunity to discover new perspectives, reflect on my working methods and apply current knowledge in my daily responsibilities.
Topics relating to organisation, communication, digital processes, teamwork and vocational training are particularly relevant to my work. They complement my commercial qualification and support me in carrying out my responsibilities as an executive assistant and training coordinator professionally.
My personal interest in digital media, websites and communication also contributes to my development. It allows me to combine traditional organisational skills with an understanding of modern digital tools and content.
What My Journey Has Taught Me
My professional journey has shown me that not every development can be predicted from the beginning. A plan that changes or a course that is interrupted does not automatically mean that the original goal has become impossible.
Sometimes an indirect route provides experiences that become especially valuable later.
Each stage of my education and career has taught me something. Working as a class representative strengthened my communication skills. Vocational college and my Erasmus+ internship broadened my linguistic and personal horizons.
My university studies gave me insights into business and media, while my apprenticeship at APZ Alphazahn finally enabled me to bring these different experiences together in a professional environment.
Determination and a willingness to adapt were especially important throughout this journey. My path was not completely straightforward, but every stage helped me understand my strengths more clearly.
Today, I know that organisation and communication are among my main professional abilities. I enjoy working in a structured way, maintaining an overview in demanding situations and supporting others in achieving shared goals reliably.
A New Chapter with Further Opportunities
Successfully completing my apprenticeship and becoming an executive assistant and training coordinator do not represent the end of my professional development.
Instead, they form the foundation for the next stages of my career.
I intend to continue expanding my abilities, taking on new responsibilities and developing both professionally and personally. Regular training, communication with experienced colleagues and openness to new technical and organisational tools are all important parts of this process.
I also look forward to passing my own experience on to future apprentices. I would like to help ensure that they feel supported within the company, recognise their abilities and successfully complete their own training.
Being able to assist both the company’s management and its apprentices makes my current position especially varied and meaningful.
My Conclusion
My apprenticeship at APZ Alphazahn was a decisive step in my professional life. It enabled me to complete my qualification as an office management assistant and immediately opened up new opportunities.
My direct appointment as an executive assistant and my additional role as training coordinator demonstrate that commitment, reliability and a willingness to learn are recognised.
I particularly value the opportunity to apply my organisational abilities, support the company’s management and help young people during their vocational training.
Through continuing education and certified qualifications, I continue to expand my knowledge and create a strong basis for future development.
Above all, my journey has taught me that it is worth holding on to personal goals. Even when individual stages do not go according to plan, perseverance, openness and a commitment to development can create new opportunities.
My time at APZ Alphazahn is therefore much more than another position on my CV. It represents a successfully completed apprenticeship, growing trust, new responsibilities and the beginning of an exciting professional future.
